Whether you dedicate your life to farming or you are an amateur, the last thing you need is for your hard work to be partially or wholly destroyed by pests. A wide range of protective products are available, from humane methods of scaring intruders away to more radical ones, depending on the animals involved.
One of the most bothersome garden pests, the mole, can be kept away from your crops by using ultrasonic mole chasers or anti-mole bulbs, the latter emitting a smell which they are very sensitive to. These devices are safe, will not disturb other creatures and will not harm the moles in any way. Similar types of repellents can be used on cats, either by emitting sounds, smells (such as cat repellent rods) or by spraying water on them when they approach a certain area. That protects your plants as well as your birds against any potential damage caused by these curious felines. Similar mouse and rat repellers are also available.
The nuisance posed by another renowned pest, the slug, is easy to tell judging by the numerous solutions invented against it, from slug traps, slug stopping tape and slug rings to a less merciful slug killer. You can also purchase a multiple pest killer to get rid of a handful of hassles, or individual products for eliminating wine weevil, caterpillars, codling moths, ants, flies and grubs. Caterpillars in particular can have a quick and devastating effect on your plants and have to be prevented or eliminated as soon as they are spotted.
